A Village in Abruzzo

On April 6th of 2009 a major earthquake struck the region of Abruzzo, Italy. Its epicentre was near the region’s capital L’Aquila, which, along with its surrounding villages, suffered the most damage. Tragically, more than 300 people lost their lives. Ten years later the reconstruction is still underway, and the damage remains very present. In some places more than others, as with this beautiful medieval village. (Photos: summer 2019)
