Ladhof Cemetery

The cemetery Ladhof in Colmar, France, was opened in 1805 and divided into two sections. The northside being for Catholic burials and the southside for protestant burials. Within a short time, its size became insufficient and in 1843 it was expanded and enclosed with a stone wall. A further major expansion, to its present size of 11 hectares, was carried out in the early 1900s.

There are many elaborately crafted graves, monuments and tombs in the cemetery, a few of which were made by the famous sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi.
