Morcote’s Alleys

The former medieval fishing village Morcote lies on the shores of Lake Lugano in Ticino. During the late Middle Ages, it was also a key shipping port. The traditional narrow, winding and paved alleys of the village centre are exceptionally well preserved.

It is listed in the Federal Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites of national importance and was voted the most beautiful village in Switzerland in 2016.
