Grasburg Ruin

Located near Schwarzenburg, Switzerland, the earliest parts of the present ruin date back to the 11th or 12th century. The castle changed hands many times, one of the most famous being the Habsburgers. It remained the seat of the advocate until 1575 when it was abandoned and left to gradual ruin. Since 1894 it is in the hands of the Canton of Berne and has been duly preserved.
