Trastevere

Trastevere is the 13th district, rione XIII, of Rome and is located on the west bank of the Tiber. Its name originates from the Latin trans Tiberim, meaning literally «beyond the Tiber». It is one of the liveliest, most colourful quarters of Rome with its small streets and medieval architecture, therefore often referred to as a «real Roman neighbourhood». Due to its numerous restaurants and bars it’s particularly popular in the evenings with both locals and tourists.
